Welcome to Raven

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Raven, including our website, mobile applications, and services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

Your Account

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process. You are responsible for safeguarding your account password and for any activities that occur under your account.

Subscription and Payment

Raven offers subscription plans for access to premium features. When you subscribe to a premium plan, you agree to pay the subscription fees indicated. Unless otherwise stated:

  1. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
  2. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
  3. Refunds are provided in accordance with our refund policy
  4. We reserve the right to change subscription fees upon notice

Content Ownership and Responsibility

Your Content

Any and all writing content that you create, upload, or otherwise submit to the Service remains your property. You retain all intellectual property rights to your content. Raven does not claim ownership over your content, nor do we sell, rent, or otherwise distribute your writing to third parties. All your writing content is encrypted using end-to-end encryption, which means we cannot and do not have the technical capability to read, view, or access your writing at any time.

Content Licensing

By uploading content to the Service, you grant Raven a limited licence to host, store, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This licence does not grant us the right to sell, distribute, or otherwise exploit your content.

Responsibility for Content

You are solely responsible for the content you create and share using our Service. You agree not to use the Service to create or share content that:

  1. Violates the rights of others
  2. Is unlawful, offensive, or obscene
  3. Contains malware or violates security measures
  4. Impersonates another person or entity

Risk of Data Loss

Intentional Data Loss (Writing Goals)

Raven includes features that may intentionally delete or make inaccessible content that you create if you do not meet certain writing goals. By using these features, you acknowledge and agree that:

  1. Content lost due to unmet goals is not retrievable
  2. This feature is an intentional part of the Service
  3. Raven is not liable for any content lost due to unmet goals

Accidental Data Loss

While we implement measures to protect your data:

  1. We are not liable for any writing or data lost due to server issues, technical failures, or other issues
  2. You are encouraged to regularly download and back up your writing
  3. Raven makes no guarantee regarding the preservation of your content

Encryption of Content

All writing content created on Raven is encrypted using end-to-end encryption technology. This means:

  1. Only you can access and read your writing
  2. We do not have the technical capability to read, view, or access your content
  3. Your content remains private and secure from unauthorised access

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including if you breach these Terms.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Raven, its affiliates, directors, employees, or licensors be liable for any indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including without limitation damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, that result from the use of, or inability to use, the Service.

Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

Data Deletion Requests

You may request that we delete all of your user records and writing content from our servers and cloud storage by contacting us at corvus@writewithraven.com. We will action such requests within 30 days of receipt.

User Feedback and Adjustments

We are building Raven for writers. We welcome your feedback regarding privacy or data concerns and will make reasonable efforts to adjust how Raven works to ensure writers feel safe, protected, and in full control of their work. However, we cannot guarantee that all suggested adjustments will be implemented.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Changes to These Terms

We may update our Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
